Sudden Strike II - Mission Review : Anzio.

Spooky is one of the most underrated map makers in the community. He is known for making special missions for most nations in the game.
Most well-known missions : Iwo Jima, Stalingrad, Alpen Fortress.

Anzio is a mission representing a historical background, about the British landing in Anzio, Italy during the Allied campaigns through the southern part of the country.

You begin in the far most southern point on the map, pushing your way through the heavily defended city of Anzio, making it through to the port in the west.
However, a heavy German artillery barage suddenly takes place. It seemed as if the enemy was preparing to take back the entire area by extreme force. Therefore a ship arrives in the sea, with your objectives to get your general out of this sector, winning the mission.

My opinion : Very interesting concept. The fighting through the alley ways, crossing bridges, and laying abushes for German attacks was really entertaining and fun. Additionally this plot twist at the end where you are forced to escort the general away from the battlezone, this just makes you wonder what the enemy could have prepared for you after holding out their violent attacks.
I consider this mission to be a special one since it is one of the very few missions where you get to control British forces in their full shape, where the player is given control of bombers, vehicles, artillery and tanks.


- Merits :

1) Refreshing map design.

2) Very fun and interesting gameplay.

3) Great concept, one of the very few missions which includes Battleships (even if not used mainly).

- Demerits :
1) A very wide sector of the map is Sea, perhaps it would be more interesting if there was a sea battle where you get to control ships yourself.
2) No airfields available limiting the use of aircraft.
3) Only one aritllery piece (25 pdr) which is too weak for a massive operational assault.

Mission Review - 256x map "Uspenovsky Sack"

What I like about the mission, is that the map itself is awesome and represents eastern ukraine, and I'm totally into the mission and balance, I completely lost track of time while I was actively attacking enemy positions, it took me 1 hour just to get a foothold in the cities, just like the origional games, where each soldier is moving very carefully and we are expending all of our ammunition instead expending our men. There is a nice range of units avalaible for both sides, the ukrainians are packed with NATO euipment and also domestic production vehicles like the T-84 Oplot and BTR4, and there is a well though out use of new units from BETA-6, each side has access to Kamikaze drone operators, recon and bomber drones, the mission is difficult and requires forward planning because the defences are hard to break which is good as the player has to fight for hedges or wooded areas for visibility and clear them with infantry. A nice addition to the rienforcements is that there are two BMP3 on the right flank with the Russian marines, this gives our troops some variety and they look cool, plus it represents Russian military doctrine, as the Marines have always been used as elite infantry along with aerospace and airborne units, with thier own tactics and vehicles.

I noted the lack of anti-tank guns, which is good, as they are not as common on the battlefield as they were in 2014,but it still would be nice to see some. I will go ahead and give feedback, just a thought from my observations: you could add MTLB with a spare crew in future missions or just in the final reinforcement, as many crew members die inside the vehicles, but the vehicles remain, although this is not necessarily a problem, for example, I lost two crew members inside a tank due to some ATGM, but later a BMP-1K was destroyed, and then I managed to save the crew, heal them and throw them into the tank.
