Sudden Strike Resource War Windows 7 locking up game.

I have installed the game in Windows 7 however no matter what I try, compatibility mode, disabling graphics, 3d acceleration, patch, the troubleshooter on this forum relating to windows 7 problems, when I try to run the game the screen flicks as if its trying to play each of the start up videos, cant, then finally gets to the Menu screen where the mouse icon sits there but wont respond to the mouse, though I can hear the mouse pointer moving over menu options. The game quite literally halts on this Menu screen and wont go anywhere.

Any help?
