==============================================

SIBERIUM (version 1.5) Features
--------------------------------------

Appearance and/or camouflage of several units was altered. Some animations were
changed as well. Some unit's stats were modified, to fix minor bugs.

Other important changes:

- APCs are able to tow guns now. Weight of the towed gun, depends on the
abilities of the vehicles. Light APCs will not tow heavy guns.
- Player is now able to change any unit appearance and color. Where is no need
in special "sue" files processing programs to do that. Alternative for existing
unit graphics just should be placed in "SIBERIUM\Custom" directory. Players
are able to download separate units from Internet or rip units from other mods
and use them with our mod. Unit file names must match with original ones
exactly, for the game to load new graphics properly. Unit type must remain
the same. It is impossible to change, for instance, tank graphics to, say..
SPG graphics this way, because the game will simply crash.

==============================================

SIBERIUM (version 1.4) Features
--------------------------------------

It is impossible to list all changes from original game, since where are
too many of them. Most important in short:

- Animation partially changed or added. Most guns have tracing ammo now.
- Added minimal crew number to many unit names. This was made for convenient
capture of un-manned vehicles, in situation then player is not sure how many
crew members needed to operate a vehicle.
- Survivability of vehicles, infantry, buildings and bridges was increased.
Amount of health for many vehicles now depends primarily on vehicle mass.
It is now harder to destroy a building and especially a bunker. Also, keep
in mind, what bridges now cannot be easily destroyed before advancing enemy.
- We increased the speed of many vehicles, reducing ammo shell's speed at
the same time. This allowed us to create more dynamic gameplay on large maps
and to remove artificial random "misses". It is now harder to hit fast moving
target, giving it a chance to break through enemy defense or approach at
firing distance. Slow target (for instance turning, or standing tank) will
be hit almost instantly though.
- Speed of the tanks and SPGs depends on specific capacity of vehicle engine.
(engine power divided by vehicle mass)
- Damage, inflicted by a gun depends on initial speed and mass of ammo shell.
Long range artillery damage depends on ammo shell mass only.
- Armor of tanks and SPGs was set accordingly to actual armor size and angle.
Tank armor value is counted against the half of the sum of double hull armor
value and single turret armor value. We're assuming, that the probability
of hull hit is twice larger, than the probability of turret hit.
- Actual amount of machineguns on every vehicle is reflected in vehicle damage
and ammo usage.
- Partially armored vehicles are now more vulnerable to indirect fire and
grenades.
- Vehicles of the same class are affected by AT-mines in the same way:
unarmored units (trucks, jeeps, motorcycles) are destroyed at first mine hit;
lightly armored units, such as APCs and so on, stop with about 100 hit points
after first AT-mine hit and so are doomed, if left without urgent repair;
light tanks stop after first AT-mine hit; medium tanks stop after second
AT-mine hit; heavy tanks stop after third AT-mine hit. All tanks are able to
repair themselves slowly and continue moving after that.
- Some kind of "camouflage" support was implemented. For example, tank, moving
at the enemy gun, will detect it later, than the "camouflaged" gun will
detect moving tank and open fire at it. Infantry detects enemy faster than
anything. Slow tanks and SPGs have now less chances of detecting the enemy.
- Detection range is equal for all tanks and SPGs of the same class. Vehicles
of lighter class are able to detect enemy at longer distance. However, all
tanks and SPGs have equal detection range then they are in march mode.
- Guns like PaK40, Zis-2, Zis-3 and so on, are now able to make an alternative
shot with cumulative ammo. It is activated, like special shot for long range
artillery ("S" key). Successful shot will destroy tank crew, leaving the tank
intact.
- "Critical hits" implemented. Large caliber gun (50 mm and up), have now
chance to kill crew of the tank, or other vehicle, without destroying vehicle
itself.
- Trucks have gained spying abilities. Their detection range is low though, and
it is enough to hit one AT-mine to effectively destroy the truck and
everything inside it.
- Anti-personnel mines were replaced with "flares". Flare does
not inflict any damage to vehicles, but immediately discovers enemy location,
even in the fog of war. Working example is shown on the screenshot at:
http://www.siberium.net/index.php?page= ... =8&lang=ru
- Accuracy of long range artillery and rocket launchers has been reduced,
increasing the area damage at the same time. This allowed us to put an end to
"sniper gun shots" tactics.
- Cost of reloading artillery has been increased, especially long range one.
It is too expensive to exploit long range artillery continuously now.
- Long range artillery were stripped of firing sound, which allowed to find
enemy guns in the fog of war by using just ears and good headphones. ;)
- New, mobile long range artillery was implemented (SU-122, StuH42, etc.). Their
most important difference from units like Hummel, is in their ability to fire
on their own, if they "see" an enemy. It is possible to prevent them from
open fire, by using "T" key. Sound of this kind of artillery can be heard
regardless of fog of war.
- Most infantry types now lay down then fired upon. This reduces their
detection radius and increases defense.
- Units under fire now loose "morale" points. Probability of unit panic was
increased this way. Soldiers inside heavy tanks and bunkers are more
resistant to panic. It is possible to restore morale of tank crew by
removing crew from the tank and let them to run around for a while (it was
impossible to restore "morale" this way before).
- All infantry units have equal detection radius, then not using optics,
regardless of their experience. This allowed us to put an end to step-by-step
general and officer movement for reconnaissance.
- Generals are now able to perform propaganda.
- Engineers and medics, as the most educated ones, are now able to operate
vehicles.
- Interceptors now have limited ammo.

@Barbarossa

http://www.suddenstrike2.jp/ss2/modules ... 12&lid=292

@Barbarossa
