So here is what we have in our hand:
a Chinese panel for 2.2 without the fuel bar
an English panel for 2.3 that we cannot get Chinese display

Can you do us a favour by adding all those pixel files from the 2.3 panel to the 2.2 Chinese panel to see if we got it done?

Or, if you are able to look inside the files, can you try to investigate what was changed in the 2.2 panel to make it support Chinese?

But here only 7 images of grafix for mini-menu in game!

Ok!
Here 257 elements...
Try this -
Take FONT_COMIC30.PCK and in this folder font_phermes.pl renamed in FONT_COMIC30.col...
By sust_units extract or by sust_stuff examinate...
I am not sure this pallete is equal what is inside FONT_COMIC30.PCK, but it will be work...
Excuse me for rapid research...
U must understand method...
If i will have time i will investigate later...
Second way to rename in *.ani and *.pl

About panel.dat


Work with from v.2.2.
1. Rename panel.dat to panel.pck
2. Split file by 512b = get 395 files panel.001-panel.395
3. Multirename it to f.e. panel001.col - panel395.col
4. Investigate by sust_stuff.
4. Panel001.col - no-o...
5. Panel002.col - Yes!
Address of 1st b of real pallete!

Now calculate closer - maybe some variants but on output u get real 512b pallete of panel.dat...


Then technics - extract panel.pck (with panel.col) by sust_units...

About panel.dat from ver.2.3...
Here 187 images...
Investigate by known method...
In panel002.col we see start of real pallette...
Calculate - each color square = 2b... so start after ((7x16)+8)x2=240
Find in HEX editor and copy next data to new panel.col file.
Open panel003.col and copy-add to panel.col palette data till ((7x16)+8)x2=240....

So we get... real panel.col for panel.pck (panel.dat)...

We have been successfully breaking the panel file down to object files in pck format.
Do you know the file structure of these pck files and how to convert them into bmp file?

All packed files in game (not only .pck) have similar packing structure!
But sometimes in .pck hidden .col (.pl) and .hot (crosschairs).
Menu files have such structure too!
Pallete file hidden in .pck...
So similar method for extracting pics.
1. Analize by sust_stuff splitted file on 512 b parts, find pallete.
2. Create ****.col file from this 512 b (maybe in 2 splitted files).
3. By sust_units try extract .bmp.

If no result... (big .bmp or not correct)

4. Analize .pck file by sust_stuff, get addresses of grafix.
5. Create "empty" .pck (with one color big bmp) and put here data from real .pck
6. U get 1 .bmp from SS-file.
7. Then edit and replace original in HEX.
Edited .bmp better must have same size becos in original files maybe croschairs and .dll "read" data from it...

Our work goes well.

One of our team members specialize in computing and he wants to know the file structure of pck e.g. what certain byte means.

It is for interest, so I would be happy if you know it, but never mind if it is too hard.

But U must promice if he write program - to share english variant for community (exp. pay-r.-"moders")...
